Ghost Ghost went to Mercury Lounge last night (4/27/08). We saw Frances and Charles Atlas. We were blown away twice.

Charles Atlas piled layer after layer of lush texture on top of each other --building complex, temporary structures that filled the room and my ears with wistful expectation. Also -- Damn that trumpet player had nice tone.

Frances was astounding. I didn't think it was possible to take such complicated and divergent musical ideas and make them sound so effortless and natural. An interesting chorus effect on the violin, an incredibly precise drummer, rich organ layers... I can't list all of the positives. We are holding our breath for the new album.
