so there is an over whelming amount of info out there, but some things that I have tried that work to help the environment and I can deal with are:
- those energy saver light bulbs are hideous, the light they give off is orange and a bummer, however I have learned that if you have a fixture with more then one socket, you can mix the energy saver bulbs with the those day light bulbs, and the light is really pretty, soft but a good color.
-if at all possible i try to buy produce and groceries from local farms, some studies are saying that being a vegetarian actually is causing more strain on the environment because it takes so much to ship soy dogs and other processed products to us. doing something like buying milk from a farm upstate if you live in NYC, is a big deal. or going to farmers markets to buy veggies instead of really big supermarket chains. My Mom lives in Florida, and they ship so many of their tomato's to other states, that the groceries store chains there ship there tomato's in from California, its retarded.
-if you recycle your printer cartridges, staples will give you a packet of recycled printer paper for free, I haven't bought paper in forever. Its great.
Does any body else have any ideas.
thanks!
