Not sure if I was actually scheduled to work tonight but here's the report from the front line: Totally partying live at the CSV for the VLES launch!!! So far we got here at 8 and some tech shit wasn't available but that DIDN'T STOP US FROM ROCKIN' OUT!!! Good little crew of people gathered with me and vLES TV (aka Macon) as we demoed the client for the heads waiting for beers. Djarum was kind enough to mention the unmentionables as she departed briefly (ask me later).
Witch played and it was so cool to see Jay Mascus with a full head of silver locks! I've seen him play with Dinosaur Jr. and a VERY short-lived mini-project with him and Kevin Shields (of My Bloody Valentine) at the former Bay State Hotel in Northampton, MA, an outfit called "Whack Factor 5." They were so bad I left the venue and cried myself to sleep. That was HARDLY the case with Witch... super hard... VERY stoner. Tim Barber kept the vibe nice and toasty with his interstitial DJing with superb taste and impeccable selection. The turnout was JAM PACKED!!!
Logged in from the theatre and Black Mountain took the stage. A space-your-face drum solo cued the sound check (kudos to Rockets for hooking up a superb soundscape btw). Broadcast reports of Blk Mtn's late 70's Floydian psych combined with distinct and deliberate notions of Kraut rock only with female vocalists... people were losing their minds.
Signal waxed and waned but was able to keep visitors Drax and Jill informed with the help of Alabama on the goings on of a STELLAR launch. Tons of cool impressions were made and the music was off the CHIZZLE!!! GREAT JOB WILDCATZ!!!
